Review Description

Catalytic asymmetric epoxidation is a useful technique for the synthesis of chiral compounds in both academia and industry because of chiral catalyst molecule and can act as an enzyme to induce a million-level chiral product molecules. The development of chiral catalysts capable of inducing asymmetric centers with high efficiency remains an important task for asymmetric synthesis. This review outlines the progress of homogeneous and heterogeneous catalytic chiral epoxidation in the past decades. Under homogeneous systems, focus is on sharpless systems, porphyrins, salens, BINOLs, chiral carbonyl compounds, and chiral iminium salts. Under heterogeneous systems, emphasis is on supported sharpless systems, supported porphyrins, supported salen(metals), and phase transfer catalysis systems.
