Article Description

Combined analysis of bis(tetrahydrofuran)(2,7,12,17-tetrapropylporphycenato)iron(III) perchlorate, [Fe-(TPrPc)(THF)]ClO, using H NMR, EPR, and Mössbauer spectroscopy, as well as SQUID magnetometry, has revealed that the ferric ion of this complex is in a quite pure intermediate spin (S = 3/2) state. The result has been ascribed to the smaller cavity to accommodate the iron(III) ion as compared with the isomeric porphyrin complex.
