The novel aluminium complexes [Al(CyPS) (CyPHS)] and [Al(SPPh )] have been prepared as potential models for alumino-thiophosphonate based materials; [Al(CyPS) (CyPHS)] is the first example of a primary dithiophosphinate to be characterised in the solid state. © 2008 The Royal Society of Chemistry.
