Article Description

Helium (He) distribution around a benzene molecule in superfluid helium cluster was analyzed using the path integral method. A near complete removal of helium atoms from the superfluid environment near an aromatic molecule led to the localization of two helium atoms at positions above and below the molecular plane. Classical-like spatial localization of individual helium atoms was also observed. Localization in the benzene-helium cluster resulted due to a combination of the extreme molecule-He potential confinement and the He-He repulsive interaction.
