Article Description

The space-charge-controlled conductivity in low-density polyethylene was studied. Isothermal measurements for long times were carried out to focus on the situation when the space charge (SC) effects were dominant. It was shown that the activation energy decreased from 0.8 to 0.58 eV when determined from a long time measurements. The observed variations were in aggreement with the formation of charge packets at high fields. A clear distinction was observed between the space-charge-limited current (SCLC) and space-charge-controlled conductivty.
