Article Description

A theoretical measure of the strength of hydrogen bonds to sulfur in protein and how this interaction can be characterized in terms of energetics and geometry is given. The main focus is on hydrogen bonds to sulfides, as present in the amino acid methionine. This paper aims to lead a better understanding of possible interactions involving sulfur in biological systems and to provide parameters for improved force fields.
