Article Description

An alternative approach for detecting the quantum electrodynamics (QED) photon-photon scattering interaction, namely by wave mixing inside a lser produced vacuum channel in overdense plasmas was proposed. The basic idea was to use the ultra-strong electromagnetic fields of ultra-intense short-pulse lasers that will soon become available. It was shown that laser fields suitably trapped in small regions can reach extremely high intensities.
