Article Description
It is shown that the current-voltage characteristics of a three-terminal tunnel junction depend on the energy relaxation time. If the electrodes are made of transition metals, one may extract the fundamental parameters on the spin dependence of the hot electron relaxation time from magnetoresistance measurement. Furthermore, an enhanced tunnel magnetoresistance is predicted. © 2000 American Institute of Physics.
