Article Description

Triangle-shape graphene has been grown on Cu(111) surface by thermal decomposition of 1,1′-ferrocenedicarboxylic acid molecules in an ultrahigh vacuum chamber. The observations of Moiré patterns and honeycomb structure unambiguously reveal that such triangle-shape graphene is a single-crystalline one-layer domain with zigzag edge structure. Graphene islands can extend up to 17 nm until the growth process is hindered by the edges of the atomic terraces. © 2012 American Institute of Physics.
