Article Description

Resistance to potyviruses in transgenic plants if often described as immunity or recovery from infection. Transgenic tobacco plants of cv. Rila expressing the CP of PVY strain were generated and some of its showed a recovery reaction against PVY infection from day 20 to 25 post infection. The resistance in the recovered plants was absolute after inoculation on the top leaves of the plants recovered from infection with four virus strain and breakdown from one (PVY) isolate. The recovery phenotype was dependent on the virus, virus strain and the dose applied. © 2001 Taylor and Francis Group, LLC.
