The literature published on point-of-care testing between January 1, 2013, and December 31, 2013, was reviewed. This review divides recent literature into categories that have been published most extensively in the past year and briefly describes select articles within each category. The categories include infectious disease/global health, obstetrics and gynecology, diabetes, technological advancements, and other topics including cardiac disease, coagulopathology, and toxicology.
