Metric Options: CountsSelecting the 1-year or 3-year option will change the metrics count to percentiles, illustrating how an article or review compares to other articles or reviews within the selected time period in the same journal. Selecting the 1-year option compares the metrics against other articles/reviews that were also published in the same calendar year. Selecting the 3-year option compares the metrics against other articles/reviews that were also published in the same calendar year plus the two years prior.
Example: if you select the 1-year option for an article published in 2019 and a metric category shows 90%, that means that the article or review is performing better than 90% of the other articles/reviews published in that journal in 2019. If you select the 3-year option for the same article published in 2019 and the metric category shows 90%, that means that the article or review is performing better than 90% of the other articles/reviews published in that journal in 2019, 2018 and 2017.

Article Description
An ac calorimetric technique has been used to study the nematicsmectic-A (N-SmA) and nematic-isotropic (N-I) transitions in octyloxycyanobiphenyl (8OCB) along a series of isobars between 1 atm and 2 kbar. The excess heat capacity Cp(NA) associated with the essentially second-order N-SmA transition is found to diminish rapidly with pressure and is not observed for p>1.5 kbar. The variation in Cp(NA) with reduced temperature is not consistent with a logarithmic singularity but can be characterized by a critical exponent =0.250.05 for all the pressures studied. The excess heat capacity at the N-I transition is almost independent of pressure; these data suggest but do not clearly establish quasitricritical behavior. Details of the experimental method and the fitting procedures are given. © 1980 The American Physical Society.
