Article Description

The electronic structure of impurity atoms trapped by metal vacancies and vacancy clusters is examined by analyzing the positron annihilation characteristics. It is shown that the binding energies and lifetimes of positrons attached to impurity-vacancy complexes can provide a measure of the spatial character of electrons. © 1982 The American Physical Society.
