Article Description

The title dinuclear copper(II) complex [Cu 2 (C 18 H 16 Br 2 N 2 O 4 S 2) 2 ] was prepared by direct synthesis of a dianionic Schiff base derived from 5-bromosalicylaldehyde and cysteamine. The discrete molecules lie across inversion centers and crystallize with two dimethylformamide (DMF) molecules of crystallization. The unique Cu II ion is four-coordinated by two tetradentate Schiff base ligands in a distorted square-planar N 2 O 2 environment. In the crystal, short intermolecular S⋯Br contacts, weak C - H⋯O hydrogen bonds and intra- and intermolecular π-π stacking interactions between rings of the ligand link the components into a two-dimensional network parallel to (010).
