Conference Paper Description

The power-voltage (P-V) characteristics of a photovoltaic (PV) array exhibit multiple peaks under partial shading conditions (PSC). The classical 0.8V-model-based maximum power point tracking (MPPT) method assumes that the peaks are located at multiples of the 0.8V (open-circuit voltage). The global maximum power point (GMPP) is obtained after comparing the power of these voltage regions. In this paper, the proposed method reduces the comparison process and the voltage region can be determined based on the shading information. The improved performance of the proposed method has been verified using Simulink. The simulation results demonstrate that the proposed technique is feasible and efficient in comparison with the classical 0.8V-model-based method.
