Article Description

Lithium niobate glasses [(x.NbO ( 0.5 - x) PO) . 0.5LiO] : y FeO were studied using thermally stimulated depolarization and polarization current TSDC/TSPC, infrared (IR) spectroscopy, and X-ray powder diffraction. Thermally stimulated polarization (TSPC) and depolarization current (TSDC) techniques were used to study electrical polarization and conduction mechanisms in this system. Two current peaks were observed between 90 and 400 K. The first one is attributed to intrinsic dipolar defects and the second to interfacial polarization. The DC conductivity depends on the NbO/PO ratio. Infrared absorption spectra indicate that ferroelectric LiNbO crystals are present for high niobium content samples.
