Article Description

Multivalent states of 3d-cations considerably affect the magnetic properties of double perovskites (DPs). It affects the AO-polyhedra due to charge imbalance or due to orbital disordering. Choosing a stable cation for A-site gives a uni-directional view to study the effect of B-site cations on the magnetic properties of the compound. This report investigates the impact of comparable ionic radii cations at the B/B′-site while choosing a stable cation La for the A-site of LaCoMnO (LCMO) double perovskite on the background of its structural and magnetic properties. Structural analysis showed the triclinic crystal symmetry for LCMO. The deconvoluted Raman spectra are consistent with structural and geometrical analysis and show the complex nature of the BO-polyhedra motion. The XPS analysis revealed multiple charge states for Co and Mn. Temperature- and field-dependent magnetic response showed Griffith phase (GP) attributed to the coexistence of FM clusters in the PM region of LCMO.
