Article Description
Resumen La idea de una Ciudad Universitaria en Nuevo León se contempló desde el origen de la propia Universidad Autónoma de Nuevo León en 1933, sin llegar a resultado alguno. Entre 1941 y 1943 el ideal se retomó, sin embargo no se comenzó a planear sino hasta 1950, para inaugurarse finalmente en 1958. Los años de retraso obligaron a sus escuelas y facultades a peregrinar entre viejas casonas en el centro de la ciudad de Monterrey, espacios que resultaban inadecuados para una formación profesional moderna, pero que no obstante abonaron a la construcción de una comunidad universitaria. El presente artículo explora la planificación de la que fue considerada en su tiempo la segunda Ciudad Universitaria de México, con especial enfoque en la construcción e inauguración de los dos primeros edificios para facultades y lo que ello significó para sus respectivas comunidades estudiantiles, así como los procesos de apropiación durante el primer año de actividad del campus.
