Article Description
RESUMEN La crisis de inseguridad que vive México desde hace ya más de una década ha dirigido la mirada hacia las instituciones de seguridad pública y justicia. Si bien se ha buscado profesionalizar y democratizar a cuerpos que cuentan con una muy baja confianza social, el logro de tal objetivo enfrenta, entre otros obstáculos, los diversos niveles de apoyo de la población hacia prácticas autoritarias para combatir el crimen. En este contexto particular, es de gran interés conocer las opiniones y actitudes de los mexicanos hacia la tortura y otras medidas violatorias de los derechos humanos. Utilizando la Encuesta Nacional de Cultura Constitucional de 2011, así como una encuesta original de Percepción sobre la Práctica de la Tortura de 2015, el presente estudio analiza las condiciones de su apoyo y muestra cómo los encuestados avalan en buena medida que torturen a “delincuentes” las mismas instituciones de seguridad de las que se desconfía y teme.
