Article Description

Abstract: The composition of lipids of bog plants and peat sampled from the background and burnt areas of the Bakchar swamp in Tomsk oblast, the Gavrilovka river basin, was studied by chromatography-mass spectrometry. The main groups of organic compounds were identified including acyclic (n-alkanes, isoprenoids, fatty acids and their methyl esters, and n-alkan-2-ones) and cyclic compounds (tocopherols, steroids, and sesqui-, di-, and triterpenoids), and the concentrations of their individual representatives were determined. The experimental data obtained can be used to detect postpyrogenic layers in the section of sedimentary strata in paleoclimatic reconstructions and to assess prospects for the use of plant and peat raw materials from territories after a fire.
