Article Description

The objective of the research was to analyze gender relations and training for the occupation of leadership positions, taking as a reference companies located in the city of Quito-Ecuador, with at least 5 years of experience, where a random sample was applied by convenience, indistinctly selected people who occupy leadership positions. The questionnaire was used as an instrument, achieving 218 valid answers, refined and analyzed using the SPSS statistical software. The results showed the positive relationship of the level of training with the occupation of management positions, as well as the influence of the professional trajectory and the age for this relationship to appear, showing that the condition of the female gender can be considered a negative barrier for the occupation of management positions, expanding the theory of meritocracy from a gender perspective, which must be extrapolated towards the construction of business practices in favor of generating environments of equality for the appointment of positions of high responsibility; In addition, the study made it possible to show that education is a fundamental axis to reduce the gaps in the occupation of leadership positions.
