Article Description

Active learning has become an increasingly important aspect of education. This is especially important, but ever more challenging, as technology has proliferated, and education has moved online. We discuss one tool to facilitate active learning and student participation: Socrative. Socrative enables educators to set in class quizzes, run polls, and ask for student input. If desired, these can factor into course assessments. This provides educators with real time feedback on student outcomes while keeping students engaged. We also discuss drawbacks and mitigation strategies in relation to students becoming disengaged and distracted, and/or students facing technological barriers.
